Mini-Design 1

Due: 1/22
For this project you will create a mini website or web projects using the Short & Green book. This must be an original website created for this class. You can create the website on anything (within reason) you wish. You may start your portfolio project, you may create a personal website for yourself, or you may do something else entirely. I am not looking for a beautiful or consistent site. In fact, you could create a totally meaningless site, as long as you include the required features. This project exists to show me you can do the things in the book and to give you practice learning the basics of web design.

Your project must include the following elements (all are covered in the book). The page numbers for the related instruction in the Short & Green book can be found in () after each item.

Project requirements:

Create a site from scratch with at least 3 web pages.Put the site online. Each page of the site should have a title (60-1) and text (67-70) and the site should include:

  • relative link (41-42)
  • absolute link (41-42)
  • Image with alternative text (46, 62-66)
  • site map (49)
  • at least two different alignments for your text (71-73)
  • an image link & a text link (74-76)
  • <meta> tags 77-79
  • email link (9093)
  • named anchor (94-101)
  • link to another type of file (such a as a .pdf, .doc, .txt, an audio file and so on)(102-107)

Email me the link to the site along with details on where I can find each requirement on the site.

Mini-Design 4

Due: 2/12

For this project you will create a mini website or web projects using the Short & Green book. You can use the files the book provides or you can do this on your own website (a new one or the one you created for a previous week). Note: This project requires the use of lots of images and such items for rollovers. The images do not have to make sense, feel free to just use random images. Or you need to make screenshots in the later part of the project—you could use these.

Do remember: I am not looking for a beautiful or consistent site. In fact, you could create a totally meaningless site, as long as you include the required features. This project exists to show me you can do the things in the book and to give you practice learning the basics of web design.

Your project must include the following elements (all are covered in the book). The page numbers for the related instruction in the Short & Green book can be found in ( ) after each item.

-Attach a printer-friendly style sheet (274-276)
-Style the printer-friendly style sheet for print (277-284)
-Render your site in another way (besides print) and include a screenshot of that with the project (attach to email or include as part of the website) (280)
-Create a simple rollover (288-293)
-Create a disjointed rollover (294-298)
-Create a navigation bar with multiple rollover states (can be a two button nav bar) (299-308)
-Create a flash button (309-311)
-Play around in the code view (313-328). I don’t need proof of this.
-Play with the quick tag editor & tag editor and include a screenshot of each with the project (attach to email or include as part of the website) (329-331 & 332-336)
-Create a snippet and show me a screenshot of the snippet in the snippets panel (337-341)

Email me the link to the site along with details on where I can find each requirement on the site.
