Final ProjectDue: 6/2 You will need to submit a short proposal to me with your idea via email. This is a casual email to me which will provide me enough information on your project to approve it or to provide ways to make the project work for the assignment. Email is due by 5/15.
You have two options for this project:1) The traditional academic/professional paper: 15-25 pages. If you chose to do this print paper you will make some sort of argument drawing the literature from Electronic Writing and Publishing and possibly your own research. This should follow the general format of an academic article; however I am not going to be overly strict about the formatting (within reason). Turn in on paper. 2) An electronic academic/professional paper: This follows the first option with one exception. Instead of developing this text as a print paper, you will instead use an electronic form such as hypertext or podcast(s). As with the first option, you will make some sort of argument drawing both on the literature from Electronic Writing and Publishing. This should follow the general format of an academic article; however I am not going to be overly strict about the formatting (within reason). Since the technological aspect of this will take additional time the length of the content can be shorter. For a hypertext this may be 10-20 pages/nodes and for a podcast approximately 15-25 minutes, although in both cases longer will be acceptable. Submit in the correct form.
Formatting & Organization:Most of the articles we have read this semester would make good models. As a general suggestion, your paper should include the following:
Note: this is the typical format for research articles and most general scholarly articles; however some theoretical and other types of articles may have a slightly different format. Please check out examples of this type of scholarship to see what possibilities exist. You may find Anne Sigismund Huff's reviewing checklist helpful as she provides a checklist for requirements for each section of a scholarly journal article. It is available on ATutor and is from appendix C in Writing for Scholarly Publication. Note: it has an extra first page.
Publishing:I highly recommend you write this article for a particular journal, so you can revise it and submit it later. If you chose to write this for a journal please make the journal clear when submitting it.
