My name is Jill Yuzuriha. I am proud to be from the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, which is known not only for its rain, but also for its beautiful greenery. This, along with my Japanese American heritage, is an important factor that shapes how I identify myself. Even though my family came from Japan long ago in the early twentieth century, I am still very interested in Japanese culture and learning about my family’s history. I feel very lucky to be attending Stanford University, where I am completing the requirements to hopefully enter graduate school in order to become a physical therapist or an optometrist. I want a career where I can help people to feel their best, because helping others has always been one of my passions. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family (I have a younger brother and a younger sister), participating in Stanford’s Filipino folk dance troupe, and volunteering.
